Easy Caramel Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
1 C Sugar
5 TBSP Butter Cubed
1/2 C Heavy Whipping Cream
A Pinch of salt
1 TBSP Amaretto or Vanilla
In a heavy bottomed saucepan on medium-high heat, heat the sugar, stirring constantly with a metal wisk.
When the sugar starts to melt, it will become lumpy and stick together. At this time turn your burner to medium-low and continue to stir constantly until it is all melted and a soft golden brown. The color determines the flavor, darker is more of a burnt sugar flavor.
After the sugar is melted, remove from heat.
Add the cubed butter, which will produce steam and bubbles. continue to stir until completely melted and mixed in to sugar.
Slowly add the cream, whisk until smooth.
Add a pinch of salt and the vanilla or amaretto, stir in and allow to cool. Enjoy!
